About Us

Shirley’s isn't just a café, Shirley's is named after our mum, a woman known across the whole community for her warmth, kindness, and the way she made everyone feel welcome.

Our home was always open. Friends, friends of friends, and anyone who needed somewhere safe were welcomed in. Mum used to say, “You’re safe here! "I don’t want you out on the streets.” That was just who she was.

It’s a name, a memory, and a feeling.

Born in 1955, she believed that tasty food, proper drinks, and a warm welcome could bring anyone together.

Her kitchen was never just a kitchen.

It was a place where people sat, talked, laughed, and felt safe.

There was always something cooking, always fresh baking, and always room at the table.

More than anything, Shirley made people feel welcome.

We lost Mum far too young at just 52, but her spirit of generosity, warmth, and looking after people is the reason Shirley’s exists today.

Shirley’s is built in that same spirit.

A place for proper coffee.

Fresh food made with care.

A place to sit, relax, meet friends, or just take a moment for yourself.

Everyone is welcome here.

This café is our way of keeping her house and table open.

She is forever in our hearts — and at the heart of Shirley’s.
